Description
The Paediatric Bain’s Circuit is a specialized modification of the Mapleson D breathing system, also referred to as the Jackson Ree’s Circuit / Ayre’s T-piece. Designed for pediatric patients, this anesthesia breathing system provides efficient delivery of oxygen and anesthetic gases with minimal resistance and dead space, making it ideal for infants and children. It features a 2 m long tube with a 10 mm corrugated extension and a 0.5 L antistatic rebreathing bag, ensuring safe manual ventilation with optimal compliance for small lungs. The connectors are standardized to 15F–22M (patient end) and 15M–22F (machine end), allowing universal compatibility with anesthesia machines.
The system is lightweight, simple, and cost-effective, providing controlled delivery during short surgical procedures in pediatric anesthesia. Though non-sterile, it is intended as a single-use, disposable circuit to reduce infection risks compared to reusable systems.
